STUDENT

1ST PLACE

UNDERWATER

Jen had discovered a photograph of herself as a child, originally sparking the idea of visiting Brixham in order to explore the theme of ‘Underwater’, later naming her work ‘Fishing Nets’.

Taking direct inspiration for colour texture and pattern, she used materials such as nets which had caught her attention because of their bright colours. She scavenged washed up nets from the breakwaters and used them to knit with. All of the materials used (except my lining fabric in the jacket) are recycled. Most have come from Scrap stores and so are by products of industry. She had used a range of techniques including knitting, weaving and laminating as well as traditional sewing techniques. By showcasing her amazing talents, Jen walked away with the title of FIRST PLACE in the Student category!
